Traffic Amnesty to Expire

On June 24, 2015, Governor Brown signed into law a one-time amnesty program for unpaid traffic and non-traffic infraction tickets. The Superior Court of California, County of Tulare, is participating in the state-mandated program that is set to expire March 31, 2017

On Tuesday, January, 10, 2017, the Superior Court of California, County of Tulare will be disposing of court personal property located at the Visalia Courthouse location of 221 S. Mooney Boulevard in Visalia.  Said personal property includes assistive listening systems used with a designated audio system.

Tulare County Superior Court Warns of Jury Scam

The Tulare County Superior Court is warning the public of a phone scam after receiving reports of calls received
requesting money for failing to appear for jury service. 

The Tulare County Superior Court does not make contact, nor do we authorize any outside agency, to contact individuals
via telephone to collect fines for failing to appear for jury service.  If you receive such a call, you are advised to hang up and
not provide the caller with any personal information.

If you have questions regarding the legitimacy of a phone call you receive, you may contact the court at 559-730-5000, option 5.

Proposition 64

Effective November 9, 2016, Proposition 64 legalizes specified personal use and cultivation of marijuana for adults 21 years of age or older; reduces criminal penalties for specified marijuana-re lated offenses for adults and juveniles; and authorizes resentencing or dismissal and sealing of prior, eligible marijuana-related convictions.Under Health & safety Code §11361.8, a person currently serving a sentence, or who has completed a sentence for a conviction of a violation of section 11357, 11358, 11359, and 11360 of the Health & Safety Code may be eligible to have the conviction reduced or re-designated as a misdemeanor or an infraction and resentenced, or dismissed as applicable.  For more detail, please check the links below.

Trial Court Allocations

At its July 28, 2016 meeting, the Judicial Council made 2016–2017 Trial Court Trust Fund (TCTF) and General Fund allocations to trial courts.  Attachment A provides a summary of each court’s recommended base and one-time allocations for 2016–2017, and Attachments C through J provide details.  To assist courts in budgeting the allocations for the Schedule 1, Attachment B displays the recommended allocations by their associated General Ledger account.

RECORDING POLICY

In order to avoid interference, delay, or disruption in the delivery of court services and to protect the privacy interests of the public and of court staff, the court has adopted a policy limiting audio and video recording within court facilities.

Effective June 26, 2016, any and all "photographing" and/or "recording" of people, things, conversations or proceedings is prohibited in any court or court related facility.

The policy, in it's entirety, is posted in all court service locations and is available from Court Administration upon request.

Digital Improvements

The Tulare County Superior Court is in the process of digitizing historic documents that are currently stored on Microfilm and Microfiche to make them more easily available to the public.  These documents will not be available for an extended period of time because of this effort.  The Court thanks you for your patience as we make these improvements.

The Tulare County Superior Court is warning the public of a phone scam after receiving reports of calls received requesting money for failing to appear for jury service.  The callers are identifying themselves as a deputy from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and requesting large sums of money on a prepaid Visa card.  Callers are also informing individuals they must appear in court on September 30 or October 2 to provide proof of payment.    & nbsp; 

The Tulare County Superior Court Jury Services Division does not make contact, nor do we authorize any outside agency, to contact individuals via telephone to collect fines for failing to appear for jury service.   If you receive such a telephone call, you are advised to hang up and not provide the caller  any information.

If you have any questions regarding the legitimacy of a phone call you receive, you may contact the Tulare County Superior Court Jury Services Division at 559-730-5000 option 5 or to report a call you may contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department at 559-733-6211.

In preparation for a case management system conversion, on Friday, September 25, 2015, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., the court can only accept counter payments on traffic and criminal matters with an applicable case number.  If you do not have your case number, please arrive at the court prior to 3:00 p.m. or during regular business hours beginning September 28, 2015.  No phone payments will be accepted during this time.

On June 24, 2015, Governor Brown signed into law a one-time amnesty program for unpaid traffic and non-traffic infraction tickets.  The Superior Court of California, County of Tulare, will participate in the state-mandated program commencing October 1, 2015.  The program allows defendants to have the civil assessment deducted and reduce their remaining court ordered debt 50 to 80 percent:

The Court will accept written comments on the proposed 2014-2015 baseline budget through close of business on Friday, September 26, 2014. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please download all of the necessary attachments (zip file). Please note that the RFP is comprised of the Janitorial Main Document and ALL eight attachments. Therefore, ALL documents must be read carefully prior to submitting a proposal. Said personal property includes items such as miscellaneous office supplies, outdated modular furniture, and various office furniture (including tables, desks, chairs, benches, and cabinets).

Notice Of Unavailability Of Official Reporter:

Effective October 1, 2013 - Official court reporters will no longer be provided in the Visalia Division for all misdemeanor matters, civil limited trials, civil unlimited trials, and probate trials.

Effective November 4, 2013 - Official court reporters will no longer be provided in the South County Justice Center for all misdemeanor matters, civil limited trials, civil unlimited trials, and probate trials.
